Cafeology is a local company, when we say local, I mean we’re neighbours. They approached us looking for a new way to transport their produce. Cafeology produce incredible coffee, specialising in sourcing the very finest ingredients available through sustainable and ethical, long-term partnerships with producers.
Sustainability is at the heart of company, and they were looking for ways to transport goods that would fit in with their ethics and values, and we provided them with a perfect solution.
Their produce now arrives at our rail terminal in Templeborough which is less than 5 miles from Cafeology. Using freight transport by rail cuts carbon emission each tonne is cut by 76% compared with road haulage, according to a report published by Rail Delivery Group, Rail Frieght: Working for Britain.
Once the container has arrived, it’s transported using our Kalmar box lifter, which is HVO fuelled, helping to reduce carbon emissions.
Then the container is loaded onto our new Volvo FH fleet, we’ve invested in a fleet to help us reduce our carbon footprint. The new Volvo I-Save technology, leverages turbo-compounding to reduce fuel consumption without compromising on drivability. The Volvo FH truck then takes the two-minute drive to their sustainable new premises.
Cafeolofy moved in 2018 BREEAM accredited building, it’s the world’s leading science-based sustainable building certification, and the warehouse, roastery, barista training campus and office is rated very good.
We’re passionate about reducing our impact on the environment and when a company like Cafeology approaches us with similar values, we jumped at the chance to work with them. We’re looking forwards to how the partnership develops and looking at innovative technology that can help us to reduce our carbon footprint.
